I Wrote Your Name: Pencil to Paper

11 Feb

Dear Paper,

I wrote your name in the sky
the wind blew it away
I wrote your name in the sand
the water washed it away
I wrote it on my eraser
it got erased!
I wrote your name on me
it got sharpened away
I wrote your name in me
now it is more than a name

Every spring and fall, Badgerdog solicits and publishes occasional poems from its students. This poem by Lillian was one of our Valentine’s Day favorites. Lillian wrote the poem in response to a prompt asking her to imagine a love letter between two inanimate objects. Congratulations, Lillian!

Stay tuned for more Valentine’s Day Contest Honorable Mentions throughout the week and the winning poem on Saturday.
